My thoughts on Miriam Santiago and Rodrigo Duterte

Rodrigo duterte and Miriam Santiago

I would just like to point out that this is my opinion and I am expressing the reason why I chose Duterte over Santiago as my preferred candidate. I am also not the politically savvy and I am just looking at it from an ordinary citizens point of view.

Miriam is a very smart and experienced leader, there is no denying that. I believe she is going to be a great president if ever elected and I am fine with that. However, I think she does not have the enough resolve to fix this country. I am not saying she has very little resolve, In fact I can see her resolve and determination even in the senate to find truth and justice for Filipinos.

However it will take a lot and even a great deal of personal sacrifice to be able to change this country. For me, Miriam Santiago has spent far too long in the senate to not have developed any political ties or connections that might hinder her from making necessary decisions to fix the Philippines. Out of the two I think she will be the one to most likely compromise on some situations. Again, I am not saying Rodrigo Duterte is perfect and uncompromising, but Santiago has far more reasons to compromise than Duterte when it comes to decision making, which again I am saying only because I believe she has more political ties and connections comapred to Duterte.

On the other hand she is most likely the one to cause less chaos if she is able to pull of the change necessary to change our nation for the better because of her political ties and having more influence politically.

Duterte on the other hand does not have a lot of political connections in the Luzon area which I believe will make him more unbiased with it comes to his decisions and less people to answer too when making hard decisions. I believe Duterte has the enough resolve to change the Philippines for the better but as he said "It will be bloody" but I don't think this will be caused by his actions rather it will be most likely due to opposition coming from corrupt officials with strong political ties that stand to loose a lot.

Duterte has a very strong influence politically right now not because of his connections in the government but rather because of the support of the people. However it will be game over the moment other parties will be able to change how the common people view Duterte. I believe this is not likely to happen as long as we ourselves have the resolve to see this through until the very bloody end.

My blog has a google PR of 1!

To the uninitiated this might not make sense. PR or page rank is actually a system that Google uses to determine the importance of a certain website or blog. The ranking starts from 0 to 10, and 10 being the highest.

I know, I'm overreacting a bit by really writing about my blog getting a PR 1. I'm just happy I have a PR already. I don't know how long this will last though. But right now, I am just enjoying it.

Solution to failed to global.cki download (error_urinotfound)

I've just recently installed weapons of war online, but after installing it I came up with a "failed to global.cki download (error_urinotfound)" error. I didn't mind it, I thought it was a minor thing. Thought I could just google it and find a solution. It turns out that this error is common on gameclub games such as SF, fiesta, weapons of war etc. These games are famous here in the Philippines

Well, it turns out that either no one can clearly explain this and no one has clear solution or just that no one really wants to share. So here is how I solved the "failed to global.cki download (error_urinotfound)" error.

Step 1
set your windows firewall to its default settings
control panel > windows firewall > advance tab > restore defaults

Step 2
uninstall 3rd party firewalls, anti-virus or anti-spyware programs you have

After taking these steps, try opening the gameclub launcher. If it opens, then that is clearly the problem. Install your security softwares one by one and everytime you finish installing one. Try to open the gameclub launcher to determine which one is really causing the problem.

The first day I missed work

My back hurts so bad right now, its been going on for 4 days now and its getting worse. Today, even if I sit it still hurts. Even laying down doesn't help, makes it even worse when I get up. About 2 months ago I promised myself that I would do good in my job. That no matter what happens I will not miss work. I now realized that I should at least allow myself the benefit of getting sick.

The hardest part is deciding whether you're still fit to work or give it a rest. In the line of work I am in right now, you're actions will literally affect other people. Your share of the workload for the day will be distributed to others and it is eating me up because I should be there.

After 2 hours of thinking it over, I've finally come to a decision to just give myself a rest. Consult the doctor about my back and rest. My back still hurts even as I write this down and its giving me one hell of a time. But what really bothers me is that I might have disappointed my supervisors and for that I am truly sorry. Indeed I am, no pay, lower scores and I might have to spend something just to go the doctor and for my medicines.

Lesson learned? It's not good to be sick, so take care of yourself.

The perks of my job

Truth be told, the only reason I am writing this is because I am severely bored with my job. I mean, I don't love it. I don't hate, it just doesn't interest me that much. Why keep it then? Well, I need it to survive. I could try to find another job but I am not really sure if I want to leave this job also. So to further convince myself that my job is worth keeping I am going to write the perks.

I am a technical support representative working for Convergys, I've been in this job for 2 months now but this is not my first time to have this kind of job. One of the perks for working in convergys is that I get to speak in the language I usually use for blogging which is a plus considering that blogging is my hobby and a way of investing my idle time. Hopefully, this investment will pay off in the future.

Coffee is definitely one of the perks because it is free. Espresso, Cappuccinos, Sweet blend, Creamy blend, plain coffee. I can still smell those steamy cups that I am so used to slurping already. Although coffee is one of the perks it is not necessarily good for me because it makes me a bit hyper and I become easily irate when I am hyper and that is not good when you're talking to someone also irate over the phone.

The pay is definitely good, at least for most jobs that you can find here in our area. Its twice the minimum wage which is quite good.

Another perk is that we get to dress up as much as we want to for work. Although we're not really facing our customers in person it does help alleviate our confidence a bit while they are shouting at us over the phone.

The best thing I like about this job is that we get to help people. It might sound "corny" and "cheesy" but it does feel good when you know you've helped someone on the other end of the world.

The Gaisano issue

Do you live in bacolod? If you do, you might have noticed something weird with Gaisano main. What is it? Let me give you a clue. You enter the store and you feel refreshed, its a bit cool. You go upstairs and suddenly you notice that you're sweating. You try to figure out why you are perspiring like a pig and then it dawns on you. Their air conditioning is off!

You might wonder whats really happening there, well I asked one of the sales lady and she told that it was broken and their fixing it and should be back soon. The only problem here was that it was a month ago when I asked that question. Are they cutting operating costs? Bad move then, there are a couple of instances already where I was going to buy something there but got irritated with the heat and just stormed out of the place. Imagine a bunch of their customers doing that everyday and it will really affect their income.

I've always liked Gaisano, been going and buying stuffs there since I was a kid but this is ridiculous. Its not like their store is open where a breeze could be felt once in a while. Its literally a hell hole. Bad for business

The old ladies of bacolod

Have you ever rode on a jeepney with an old lady here in bacolod around the age 40 - 55 and you where with you're girlfriend? Chances are you've already noticed what I will write about here.

Most old ladies around the age 40-55 here in bacolod are rude. You will notice that most of them rant about how poor they are, how cruel life is to them, how their sons or daughters are useless bums or they will just stare at you like there is something disgusting about being with your girlfriend riding a jeepney. I really get irritated when they do that, its as if they feel like we should be ashamed of ourselves.

I understand that most of them must have been through hardships and difficulties (most of which I believe are self inflicted anyway) but that doesn't explain the fact that they act the way they do. What is it about this age range that made them so irate with life? The marshal law? Well its over, duh. They're to young to have been alive during world war 2 so we can't blame that.

This is one of the great mysteries in life I think I wouldn't care to understand.

It's nice to write again

Been so long since I've first written anything here in blogger. Oh how I miss its interface and other annoying bugs which used to make me cringe all the time. Regardless, I'm here right now in front of my computer writing something again.

Now, let me rant about whats been happening with my life. Well, got a job (round of applause please) as a call center agent in Convergys Bacolod. The nice thing about being a call center agent is that you get to learn a lot. You're communication skills will definitely improve especially if you adhere to the golden rule, always speak the language you are using to talk with your customers when you are at work regardless of whether you are in lunch or break because as most of the mentors and trainers in Convergys would say "Chances are, Convergys is the only place you're going to have a chance to practice your English communication skills because you are being paid to do it and everyone is doing it." First part true, second part "everyone is doing it" about 80% true. I'm adhering with the EOP(english only policy) and its paying off. Still make mistakes though, but definitely improving.

Just a month ago my auntie gave me a watch and its Tonino Lamborghini. Costs about 1000 euro. The most exciting part of this is its a fake. But I've checked it on the net a couple of weeks ago, looks exactly like this (click here)

Got a new phone too, I lost my n73 and right now I bought a 6120c. It's really good has a smooth and not laggy system. Unlike my old phone, but n73 has way much better camera though. 6120c performs better though. I bought from my girlfriend because she bought a samsung corby which was actually what I wanted! But she was threatening me that if I don't buy it she'll sell it to someone else. Now I know why women where not given equal rights with men during the dark ages.

The lost blogger

I started blogging about 8 Months ago. At first, I was really enthusiastic and full of energy. I was eager and didn't plan much. All I cared about was to blog about anything I could think of. 4 Months later I lost all Interests in blogging, but the prospect of earning from my blogs kept me going. So far, I have 8 blogs and I've stop updating the other 7 except for this one.

As of this moment, I have fully realized that my blog has no purpose. It is there simply because I still want to keep it. It has no specific audience, I have abandoned the idea that I could earn from it (but i still do) I continue to write stuff because I enjoy it and It feels good to have a medium for some things you want to express.

If you're a pro blogger whose main concern is only to earn, you will definitely say that my blog is not going to earn much. You know what? You're right and I don't care. I am satisfied with I am doing right now. Have a happy new year everyone!

Freelance writing vs Blogging

Being a freelance writer is easy, which makes earning from it also easy. On the other hand, there is what we call, "blogging." Freelance writing and blogging are pretty much the same. Blogging and being a freelance writer involves writing a lot and allows you to do it on your own chosen time. You can monetize (make money out of it) both of these activities, the difference is in the way you can make money out of them.

Blogging can be a hobby or can be a source of income, but it takes time. If you blog, writing skills can be a great asset but it is not the only necessary arsenal you need to posses. To earn money through blogging, you've got to familiarize yourself with SEO(Search Engine Optimization), SEM(Search Engine Marketing), ads and affiliate programs. The main advantage of blogging is that you can monetize your content for a very long time.

Being a freelance writer is really easy, there are a lot of websites that offer freelance writing jobs. All you need to do is register and then you can either wait for projects to be given to you or you can bid on a writing project. It really depends on the system of the website you've registered for. The main advantage of freelance writing comes from the fact that all you really need is to know how to write "good articles." Knowledge of SEO is a plus but not a necessity. Another advantage is that you will be paid immediately after you have completed a project. The downside is that once you're paid for what you wrote, you will lose all rights to it.

Blogging and freelance writing can help you earn and if you're really dedicated, it can help you earn enough to quit your job. The only thing you've got to remember is that you should first decide which of these activities are worth your time and effort.
