The lost blogger

I started blogging about 8 Months ago. At first, I was really enthusiastic and full of energy. I was eager and didn't plan much. All I cared about was to blog about anything I could think of. 4 Months later I lost all Interests in blogging, but the prospect of earning from my blogs kept me going. So far, I have 8 blogs and I've stop updating the other 7 except for this one.

As of this moment, I have fully realized that my blog has no purpose. It is there simply because I still want to keep it. It has no specific audience, I have abandoned the idea that I could earn from it (but i still do) I continue to write stuff because I enjoy it and It feels good to have a medium for some things you want to express.

If you're a pro blogger whose main concern is only to earn, you will definitely say that my blog is not going to earn much. You know what? You're right and I don't care. I am satisfied with I am doing right now. Have a happy new year everyone!

Freelance writing vs Blogging

Being a freelance writer is easy, which makes earning from it also easy. On the other hand, there is what we call, "blogging." Freelance writing and blogging are pretty much the same. Blogging and being a freelance writer involves writing a lot and allows you to do it on your own chosen time. You can monetize (make money out of it) both of these activities, the difference is in the way you can make money out of them.

Blogging can be a hobby or can be a source of income, but it takes time. If you blog, writing skills can be a great asset but it is not the only necessary arsenal you need to posses. To earn money through blogging, you've got to familiarize yourself with SEO(Search Engine Optimization), SEM(Search Engine Marketing), ads and affiliate programs. The main advantage of blogging is that you can monetize your content for a very long time.

Being a freelance writer is really easy, there are a lot of websites that offer freelance writing jobs. All you need to do is register and then you can either wait for projects to be given to you or you can bid on a writing project. It really depends on the system of the website you've registered for. The main advantage of freelance writing comes from the fact that all you really need is to know how to write "good articles." Knowledge of SEO is a plus but not a necessity. Another advantage is that you will be paid immediately after you have completed a project. The downside is that once you're paid for what you wrote, you will lose all rights to it.

Blogging and freelance writing can help you earn and if you're really dedicated, it can help you earn enough to quit your job. The only thing you've got to remember is that you should first decide which of these activities are worth your time and effort.

The importance of Google analytics for website and blog developers

What is Google analytics? In a nutshell, it is a tool that can be used to track your blogs or websites performance. You might be wondering, "ahh,.. yeah, so?" I can't stress enough the importance of knowing what goes on with your website, and I don't mean "how frequent" you update or "how many visitors" you get daily. I know that these are really important data, but they're not the only facts about your website or blog that you should be aware about or be concerned with. Google analytics gives you access to the most invaluable information about your website. In summary, these are the list of important data's Google analytics can give you.
  • Web browsers used by your visitors
  • Where your visitors come from
  • Screen resolution used by your visitors
  • Operating systems used by your visitors
  • How your visitors found your website
  • What keywords where used by visitors in a search engine to get to your website

Reasons why I blog

I've been blogging for three months now, I have created 3 blogs, and abandoned 2, this is my 3 and the one I'm sticking to. I've always had varied interests and it proved hard for me to pick any particular hobby and likes of mine to blog about, so I decided to first create a personal blog which of course will contain random articles that are of interests to me. It's been and is still fun, I'm discovering new stuffs everyday and it is really fulfilling.

My reasons for blogging are simple, I want to learn, have fun and I want to make some money out of it. Well, I'm beginning to achieve 2/3 of those reasons. The third however is a bit of a problem still, but I am working on it. It still amazes me every time I explore other peoples blogs, It is like looking into their minds and seeing their thoughts, present and past.Which is very interesting, especially if you analyze the sentences they construct, which shows how they formed their ideas and really tells a lot about someone.

My best wishes to all bloggers out there! Keep sharing!
